Shirley
Jackson came to mind the other day when I watched a movie, The Stoning of Soraya M., based on the true story of an innocent Iranian
woman who was stoned to death. Scenes in
that film reminded me of Shirley Jackson’s famous story, “The Lottery.”
Then I came
across a review of a new book of Shirley Jackson’s writings: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/02/books/review/let-me-tell-you-by-shirley-jackson.html?_r=0. Let Me
Tell You features both fiction and non-fiction writing, but 22 of the 30 short
stories included have never been previously published. The book becomes available on August 4.
