On Independence Day: Quintessential American Books?

On July 4, Americans celebrate Independence Day which commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

In honour of the day, I thought I’d post a link to an article from Literary Hub which was originally published a couple of years ago.  Fifty writers, editors, publishers, critics, and translators, representing 30 countries, were asked to name three quintessentially American books, and to give a reason for their choices:  http://lithub.com/quintessential-american-fiction-according-to-the-rest-of-the-world/?src=longreads.   How many have you read?

Happy 241st birthday to the United States of America!
