John Hurt's Best Literary Adaptations

Sir John Hurt, the English actor, died on January 25.  I remember him for a number of roles, including that of Winston Smith in the movie 1984 (released in 1984) based upon George Orwell's novel of the same name.  (That novel about a country run by a totalitarian government has been much in the news because of the political situation in the U.S., and sales of the novel have spiked since the inauguration.)

Hurt had a number of roles adapted from literature.  Signature recently highlighted several of those literary roles:  http://www.signature-reads.com/2017/01/john-hurts-7-most-memorable-adaptation-roles/?cdi=321A47B09DAD4547E0534FD66B0AE227&ref=PRH24BB520913.

R.I.P. Sir John Hurt
